Enduring Love

She loved him, pure and true, from youth.

Her childhood friend, with whom she'd play.

Their bond was strong, and friendship proof,
Inseparable, in every way.
But time went by, and life moved on,
And they grew up, and went their ways.
Yet in her heart, her love lived on,
For him, her childhood friend, always.
Decades passed, and they reunited,
And in each other's eyes, they saw,
The love they'd always had, unguided,
And realized what they wanted more.
But fate had other plans, it seems,
And though their love was strong and true,
They could not be, in each other's dreams,
For life had different things in store for two.
So they went their separate ways once more,
With heavy hearts, but love so pure,
A love that would last, forever more,
For though apart, they would always endure.
