Longings in the Shadows

In the dim and eerie realm of want,
Where twisted thoughts and desires haunt,
There lies a heart that beats in pain,
Longing for what it cannot obtain.

A
With eyes that gleam like burning coals,
And fingers sharp like jagged poles,
The soul cries out in agony,
For that which it cannot see.

Oh, the ache of unfulfilled desire,
A flame that burns like hellfire,
And in the depths of darkest night,
The heart screams out with all its might.

It longs to soar on wings of passion,
To dance in fields of sweet compassion,
To taste the nectar of life divine,
And revel in its sweetest wine.

But the world is cruel and unforgiving,
And in its grasp, the heart is living,
A life of darkness and despair,
Where dreams are crushed and hopes laid bare.

Yet still, the heart beats on with zeal,
For the things that it cannot feel,
And in its twisted, tormented state,
It dares to dream and still awaits.

So, tell me not of what you do,
But of the wants that haunt you too,
For in the dark and twisted world,

Our hearts are longing to be unfurled.
